It’s been ten years since the tragic June 3rd Circle disaster shook Ghana to its core.

The memories of that fateful day still linger, and for many, the pain remains fresh. However, amidst the sorrow, a story of hope has emerged. Solomon Akurugu, one of the survivors of the disaster, has been given a new lease on life thanks to the kindness of a prominent Ghanaian leader.

Recently, blogger and humanitarian Kobby Kyei shared Solomon’s emotional journey online, highlighting the struggles he has faced since the tragedy. The post painted a vivid picture of a life marked by visible scars and silent struggles. Despite the passage of time, Solomon continues to live with the pain and abandonment that followed the disaster.

In response to Kobby Kyei’s touching story, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Eric Adjei, was moved to action. He invited Solomon and Kobby Kyei to his office for a solidarity visit, where he made a personal donation to support Solomon’s rehabilitation.

Mr. Adjei’s gesture was multifaceted. He provided Solomon with tools and funding to help him acquire a new skill – tiling. This initiative will enable Solomon to pursue a sustainable income and rebuild his life. Additionally, Mr. Adjei covered the rent for new accommodation, giving Solomon a safe place to live. A mobile phone was also provided to keep Solomon connected as he begins this new chapter.

Solomon’s story is a testament to the human spirit’s capacity for resilience. Despite the trauma he experienced, he continues to inspire those around him. Kobby Kyei’s platform amplified Solomon’s voice, bringing attention to the struggles he faces. Mr. Adjei’s generosity has sparked a sense of hope, demonstrating that there are still good Samaritans willing to make a difference in the lives of those in need.

This act of kindness is expected to have a ripple effect, encouraging others to notice the lives still shadowed by the past and to be the difference they need today. As Ghanaians, we can learn from Mr. Adjei’s example, recognizing the impact that individual actions can have on the lives of others.

In conclusion, Eric Adjei’s support for Solomon Akurugu is a shining example of leadership with heart. His generosity has given Solomon a new lease on life, and his actions will undoubtedly inspire others to follow in his footsteps.
