Dr. Omane Boamah, the Minister for Defense, has assured that the Afari Military Hospital project will be completed by September 2025. Speaking to the media during a visit to the site, he explained that the purpose of his visit was to gain firsthand information about the project and help resolve encroachment issues.

The minister toured the facility for over an hour and a half, expressing appreciation for the project’s vision and the government that initiated it. Construction began in 2014, and President Mahama inspected the project’s progress in 2016. However, the project is now six years behind schedule.

During the tour, the minister observed medical equipment, beds, theater lights, chairs, and cabinets that the contractor and vendor had delivered to the site. He emphasized the importance of completing the project, stating that failure to do so would result in wear and tear on the equipment.

According to Dr. Omane Boamah, President Mahama’s vision for resetting Ghana includes completing the Afari Hospital project. The minister stressed that all issues would be resolved, and any disagreements between Euroget and the previous government would be settled. He assured that the government would ensure cost-effectiveness and not accept any unjustified violations.

The minister revealed that the government had studied correspondence between the previous government and Euroget. He expressed confidence that a final determination would be made, and the project would be completed when they meet in Accra next week. Dr. Omane Boamah called on the contractor to gather all relevant personnel and meet with the finance ministry for a serious engagement.
