In celebration of Valentine’s Day, MTN Ghana Foundation has launched a nationwide blood donation drive, aiming to collect 6,100 pints of blood for healthcare facilities across Ghana.
This year’s target marks a significant increase of 1,100 pints from last year’s collection of 5,000 pints. Over the past 14 years, MTN Ghana has mobilized blood donations, demonstrating its commitment to supporting the country’s healthcare system.
The annual blood donation exercise, which began with MTN staff, has expanded to include senior high schools. In the Ashanti Region, MTN Ghana collaborated with the Blood Bank of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) to organize blood donation exercises at KNUST Senior High School, Asanteman Senior High School, and Bonwire Senior High.
Mr. Simon Amoh, Senior Manager of General Trade at MTN Northern Ghana, emphasized the importance of blood donation, stating, “Expressing love comes in many forms, and MTN chose to save lives.” He highlighted the critical role blood plays in healthcare delivery and MTN’s commitment to ensuring people stay healthy.
MTN Ghana’s blood donation efforts have yielded impressive results, with approximately 29,000 pints collected since the initiative began. The company’s contributions to various blood banks have had a significant impact, given the life-saving role blood plays in healthcare.
Mr. Amoh assured that MTN Ghana would continue to support this initiative, aligning with the health pillar of the MTN Ghana Foundation.
