Potbelly No Longer a Sign of Richness but a Health Concern — PIWAK CEO

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PIWAK Natural Health, producers of 3P Garlic Mixture, Dr Prince Nelson Mortoti, has cautioned the public against treating a protruding abdomen, commonly referred to as a “potbelly”, as a sign of affluence or richness.

He said the growing prevalence of potbellies, particularly among adults, should rather prompt people to pay greater attention to their diet, eating habits and general lifestyle.

According to Dr Mortoti, factors such as late-night eating, bloating and obesity could contribute to an enlarged abdomen and, if not properly addressed, may have implications for an individual’s overall well-being.

He therefore urged the public to become more conscious of what they eat and when they eat, stressing the importance of adopting healthy dietary habits.

Dr Mortoti made the remarks while drawing attention to the need for people to take abdominal weight gain seriously instead of regarding it as a symbol of prosperity.

He noted that in the past, a protruding stomach was sometimes associated with financial success because it suggested that an individual could afford sufficient food. However, he said changing lifestyles and dietary patterns had made such an assumption outdated.

He explained that excessive food consumption, unhealthy eating patterns and inadequate attention to physical well-being could contribute to weight gain and other health concerns.

The PIWAK CEO cautioned that people should not take persistent abdominal enlargement lightly, particularly when it is accompanied by other symptoms or significant changes in body weight.

He encouraged individuals to monitor their eating habits, maintain balanced diets and adopt healthier lifestyles as part of efforts to protect their long-term health.

Dr Mortoti further advised the public to avoid excessive late-night meals and to pay attention to portion sizes and the nutritional value of foods consumed.

He said dietary consciousness should become an important part of everyday life, adding that prevention and early attention to unhealthy lifestyle patterns were preferable to waiting until serious health problems developed.

He also encouraged people who experience persistent or unexplained abdominal swelling or other concerning symptoms to seek appropriate medical advice rather than relying solely on assumptions about the cause.

Dr Mortoti stressed that maintaining a healthy body required a combination of responsible dietary choices, physical activity and regular attention to one’s overall well-being.

He therefore called on families, workplaces and communities to promote healthier eating habits and create greater awareness of the potential consequences of poor dietary practices.

“People must be dietary conscious and take their health seriously,” he said, urging the public not to associate a potbelly with richness but to regard significant or persistent abdominal enlargement as a reason to examine their lifestyle and, where necessary, seek professional medical guidance.
