The Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Charity Gardiner, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure across the region with a promise to facilitate the construction of a new girls’ dormitory and a modern science laboratory for OLA Girls Senior High School at Kenyasi No. 2.
The assurance was given during a visit to the school alongside the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, Members of Parliament, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs), and other key stakeholders.
The high-level delegation engaged with the school authorities and students to assess the institution’s pressing infrastructure needs and discuss measures to improve the quality of teaching and learning.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Charity Gardiner assured the school community that the government remains determined to create an environment that supports academic excellence and the holistic development of students.
According to her, the proposed girls’ dormitory will help ease accommodation challenges while providing students with a safer and more conducive residential environment.
She noted that the planned modern science laboratory will strengthen practical science education, enhance students’ interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), and better prepare them for higher education and future careers.
The Regional Minister emphasized that investing in educational infrastructure is critical to the government’s broader agenda of improving learning outcomes and equipping young people with the skills needed for national development.
She further stated that the visit demonstrated the government’s resolve to work closely with educational institutions and stakeholders to address infrastructure deficits in schools across the Ahafo Region.
The Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, together with the accompanying MPs, MDCEs and stakeholders, also assured the school of their collective support in ensuring that the proposed projects become a reality.
School authorities and students welcomed the announcement, expressing optimism that the planned interventions would significantly improve academic activities and student welfare.
The government’s commitment, they said, reflects its determination to provide quality education through improved infrastructure, enhanced teaching and learning facilities, and better accommodation for students.
The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Ghana’s education sector by ensuring that schools are equipped with the facilities necessary to deliver quality education and nurture the next generation of leaders.
