As part of the fight against illegal mining activities in the country, the Municipal Chief Executive for Wasa Amenfi East in the Western Region,Hon. Frederick Korankye together with the newly Taskforce team formed to combat illegal mining activities in the area have burnt five (5) Changfan machines popularly called ‘Tototo’ and arrested a 51 year old illegal miner Joseph Ofori Tsatsu operating on the Ankobra River at Wasa Ankonsia.
Sixteen (16) others who upon seeing the Taskforce team jumped into the river and escaped during the operation.
The MCE is poised to fight those recalcitrant illegal miners who have vowed to make his work difficult in the area.
