Defections have hit the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Asante Akim Central constituency with in the Ashanti Region barely three months to the December 7,2024 general election.
Madam Adwoa Ampomaa ,Constituency Women Organizer and other two women in the said constituency have officially defected to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Madam Adwoa Ampomaa is said to be a grassroot political strategist and believed to be one of the brains behind NPP dominance in the Asante Akim Central constituency.
Madam Adwoa Ampomaa who confirmed their defection to Isham Alhassan,Ashanti Regional organizer of the NDC said the ruling NPP is not a party worth dying for.
According to her ,she used all the resources in her disposal to campaign and canvas for votes for the NPP to win the 2016 and 2020 general elections but was ignored and abandoned by the party after winning.
She indicated that she used to support the party in everything but NPP decided to abandon her after all the sacrifices she did for the party.
She told Mr Isham Yaw Alhassan during a retail tour of the constituency with his Team that, she has realized that she wasted her resources and time in the NPP that’s why she decided to joined the NDC.
Mr Isham Alhassan, the NDC Ashanti Regional Organizer , who welcomed the three defectees to the party assured them that the NDC is a party that cares for the development of its members.
She advised them to join hands in campaigning to ensure massive win for John Dramani Mahama and the NDC and promised that they will never regret when NDC wins power in election 2024.
