The founder and leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Akwasi Addai Odike, shall henceforth cease to have anything to do with the Asante Kingdom.
This is after the Kumasi Traditional Council led by the Bantamahene, Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI performed a rare traditional rite at the Manhyia Palace this afternoon, declaring a war on Mr. Akwasi Addai Odike.
He is reported to have made pronunciations, inciting the youth of Asanteman against Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II during a live program on Oyerepa Radio in Kumasi. His utterances have been regarded as an attack and a rebellion against the Asante Kingdom.
A sheep was slaughtered at the Manhyia Palace as a symbol of an act of rebellion against Sikadwa (Golden Stool), signalling the gods and ancestors of the Kingdom to rise against the rebel.
By this act, he (Odike) is forever banished from the Manhyia Palace, that he shall have no contact, connection, or communication whatsoever with the Kingdom forever
