As part of efforts to support the government bid in improving health care in the country, the Ashanti Regional sector of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has held a blood donation exercise to support the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Blood Bank.
The blood donation exercise forms part of the activities to mark the 100 years anniversary celebration of the Church.
Over four hundred congregants took part in the blood donation exercise which was held at Ramseyer presbytery church at Adum in the Kumasi Metropolis.
In an interview with the New Trust News paper, the Chairperson for the Ashanti presbytery, Rev Benson Osafo Kantanka said, their move was to help curb the frequent shortage of blood at the hospital, a situation he cried has led to the death of many innocent patients.
“Many people are left to die when they are asked to be giving blood on their admission at the health facility due to shortage of blood, and this unfortunate situation has compelled the Presbyterian Church to donate some blood to fill the blood bank at the hospital”. He said.
Meanwhile, Rev Osafo Kantanka has condemned some men of God who doesn’t care or pay less attention to the welfare of their church members but are only interested in taking monies from them, describing it as a cheat on the Church members.
” It is cheating and naked robbery on the part of the various church institutions that refuse to attend to their members when they are facing problems ” he added.
According to the man of God, it is part of the responsibilities of the church to provide scholarships to the less privileged students.
