A shocking turn of events unfolded at the Ashanti Regional Council of State election on February 11, 2025, as a group of unidentified individuals stormed the venue, destroying ballot papers and disrupting the entire process.

This brazen act of violence occurred just as the counting process was nearing its end, with Mrs. Rose Hamilton holding a significant lead over her competitors ¹.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with tables overturned and voting materials scattered everywhere. The Electoral Commission (EC) was forced to suspend the process, leaving the election in limbo.

The campaign team of Mrs. Rose Hamilton has issued a statement strongly condemning the act of lawlessness and urging democratic institutions to take immediate action.

“We plead with the Electoral Commission to publicly communicate the way forward regarding the election results to prevent unnecessary speculations,” said Hon. Kwame Owusu Bampoe, Campaign Manager for Team Rose Hamilton. “We also call on the Ghana Police Service to intensify security measures to prevent any future disruptions and ensure a free, fair, and peaceful electoral process.”
