Ashanti Regional Minister Engages Amnesty International on Governance and Human Rights

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, has reaffirmed the region’s commitment to promoting good governance, human rights, peace, and development following a high-level engagement with the leadership of Amnesty International.

The meeting, which took place at the Minister’s office on Monday morning, focused on key issues affecting the Ashanti Region, including governance, security, human rights, and sustainable development.

Speaking after the engagement, Dr Amoakohene described the discussions as productive and emphasized the importance of collaboration between government institutions and civil society organizations in advancing national development and social progress.

He commended Amnesty International for its continued advocacy and constructive engagement on matters relating to human rights and democratic governance, noting that such partnerships remain crucial in strengthening peace and stability within the region.

According to the Minister, the Regional Coordinating Council remains committed to protecting the rights of citizens while ensuring a peaceful and secure environment that supports development initiatives across the Ashanti Region.

He further reiterated the government’s openness to dialogue and stakeholder partnerships that contribute meaningfully to national growth and the welfare of the people.

The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts by the Ashanti Regional administration to deepen cooperation with key institutions and organizations working towards accountability, social justice, and inclusive development in Ghana.
