Ashanti Regional Minister ,Dr. Frank Amoakohene has taken proactive steps to ease tensions ahead of the confirmation of President John Dramani Mahama’s nominees for Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Ashanti Region.
To ensure a smooth confirmation process, Dr. Amoakohene has dispatched a team to engage stakeholders in districts across the region.
The team will hold meetings with stakeholders, including Assembly Members, to build support for the President’s nominees. This move comes after some National Democratic Congress (NDC) members expressed dissatisfaction with the nominees’ list, which was recently released for 41 areas, including the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly. Notably, the Asante Mampong Municipal and Atwima Mponua District Assemblies are yet to have their nominees announced.
Dr. Amoakohene met with the nominees earlier this week and advised them to focus on securing their confirmation rather than celebrating their appointments. He urged them to build bridges with aggrieved individuals and be proactive in their outreach efforts. By doing so, the nominees can foster a collaborative environment that will facilitate their confirmation and enable them to effectively serve their districts.
The Minister also engaged with candidates who were unsuccessful in the nomination process, encouraging them to remain committed to the party’s cause. Dr. Amoakohene assured them that there are other avenues to contribute to the government and support the President’s initiatives. This approach aims to unite party members and prevent further divisions.
Dr. Amoakohene called on NDC members to support the nominees and work towards a united front. He emphasized that the party’s success depends on its members’ ability to work together and support one another. By fostering a sense of unity and cooperation, the party can overcome potential challenges and achieve its goals .
