The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asokwa, Mr Amoh Kamel, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming education in the municipality following the commissioning of a modern Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Centre at the New Asafo M/A Basic School.
The facility, constructed by the MTN Ghana Foundation, is expected to provide pupils with practical learning opportunities in science and technology while equipping them with the skills required to compete in an increasingly digital world.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Amoh Kamel described the project as a major milestone in his vision of improving educational standards in Asokwa through strategic partnerships and investment in modern learning infrastructure.
He noted that education remains one of the key priorities of his administration and pledged to continue collaborating with corporate organisations and development partners to provide quality facilities that will enhance teaching and learning.
“This STEM Centre is more than just a building; it is an investment in the future of our children. It will inspire innovation, creativity and critical thinking among our pupils, preparing them to become the scientists, engineers and innovators of tomorrow,” he stated.
The event brought together officials of the MTN Ghana Foundation, the Ghana Education Service (GES), traditional authorities, teachers, pupils and other stakeholders in the education sector.
Mr. Kamel expressed profound appreciation to the MTN Ghana Foundation for supporting the municipality’s educational development agenda, describing the partnership as a demonstration of corporate commitment to national development.
He stressed that such collaborations complement government’s efforts to improve access to quality education and create opportunities for young people to acquire practical knowledge in science and technology.
The Asokwa MCE assured residents that his administration would continue to champion initiatives that improve education, expand infrastructure and create an enabling environment for children to realise their full potential.
He called on teachers and pupils to make good use of the facility to maximise its benefits, adding that investing in education remains the surest path to sustainable development and economic growth in the municipality.
