The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asokwa, Chief Akwannuasah Gyimah says the Assembly was committed to supporting initiatives from private citizens of Asokwa.
This, he noted, was the most effective way of encouraging citizens to contribute their quota to national development.
Speaking to the media at the dedication ceremony of a Creche Block named after Emma Felicia Arthur, a former Proprietress at the King Arthur International School in Asokwa last Friday, Chief Akwannuasah commended the late educationist for her exemplary life and vision.
“It is encouraging to hear of the commitment of the late Mrs Emma Felicia Arthur to the education of kids in Asokwa and for us at the Asokwa Assembly we are committed to supporting such initiatives from private individuals and citizens”, the MCE stressed.
EDUCATION DIRECTOR:
Reverend Ebenezer Oteng Marfo, Municipal Director of Education for Asokwa commended the school’s management and staff for ensuring they give the school kids and pupils the best of environments.
This, he noted, encourages teaching and learning and urged them to maintain the standards they have set for others to emulate.
The Director said the current trends of education calls for massive investment in information, communication and technology (ICT), adding that he was happy King Arthur International School was fully committed to ensuring that.
“The Asokwa Education Directorate stands to advance every support needed to make teaching and learning enjoyable in schools in the Municipality and we commend King Arthur International School for leading the way of giving such environments for pupils to learn”, Rev Marfo stated.
GENERAL MANAGER:
Addressing participants at the ceremony, Reverend Father Richmond K. Nkansah, General Manager for King Arthur International School reiterated the management’s commitment to giving pupils who enrolled at the school the best of education.
He noted that facilities from Creche to Upper Basic Level at the school has been tailored in a way to encourage teaching and learning.
Rev Fr Nkansah said the school has also invested heavily in ICT with the set up of a modern laboratory, adding that pupils have the pleasure of studying and researching at same.
“Our mother, Mrs Emma Felicia Arthur was passionate about the need to give wholistic education to pupils and so we have invested heavily in ICT and friendly environments so as to achieve positive outcomes”, the General Manager emphasized.
OTHER ACTIVITIES:
A bust constructed to honour the late Proprietress and educationist was later unveiled by the sons and daughters as well as the board and management of the school in the company of other invited guests including the Clergy.
Led by the school’s headmaster and general manager, the guests were conducted around the school’s modern Creche Block and ICT laboratory as well as the classrooms in the school.
Spicing up the ceremony was the appearance of King Kwasi Kyei Darkwah who was the master of ceremony with the kids taking the audience through some poetry recitals and choreography.
Present throughout the ceremony was Most Reverend Professor Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, Retired Archbishop Emeritus, Church Province of West Africa, Internal Province of Ghana , Bishop of Kumasi as well as Rt Rev Oscar Christian Amoah, Anglican Bishop of Kumasi Diocese.
