The Assemblymember for the Wuxor, Have and Sremanu Electoral Area in the Akatsi South Municipality has received educational support items on behalf of 15 students from the Electoral Area who have successfully qualified for Senior High School (SHS).
The items, comprising 15 mattresses, 15 chalkboxes, exercise books, notebooks and pens, were presented at the Wuxor M/A Basic School for onward distribution on Friday to the 15 beneficiaries.
The gesture was made possible through the support of Sergeant Ofosu Kwakye of the Akatsi Police Command and Madam Mavis Adih, who provided the items to assist the students as they prepare to begin their secondary education.
Sergeant Ofosu Kwakye, a dedicated and community-minded police officer with the Akatsi Police Command, revealed that he had to sell his personal motorbike to raise funds towards supporting the students in their educational journey.
His decision to part with his personal possession in order to support the education of young people has added a deeply personal dimension to the gesture, reflecting his commitment to community service and the development of the next generation.
The officer’s intervention demonstrates that public service can extend beyond official responsibilities, with individuals making personal sacrifices to create opportunities for others.
Receiving the items on behalf of the community, the Assemblymember expressed profound gratitude to Sergeant Ofosu Kwakye and Madam Mavis Adih for the timely intervention.
He said the gesture went beyond the provision of physical items, describing it as a demonstration of care, encouragement and belief in the potential of the young beneficiaries.
The Assemblymember noted that the excitement and smiles displayed by the students, their parents, guardians and the community at large underscored the importance of supporting young people at critical stages of their educational journey.
He further commended Sergeant Ofosu Kwakye for his personal sacrifice and Madam Mavis Adih for joining the initiative to support the beneficiaries.
The Assemblymember also praised the Headmaster and teaching staff of Wuxor M/A Basic School for their dedication, commitment and relentless efforts in nurturing and preparing the students for the future.
He said the successful qualification of the 15 candidates was a testament to the collective efforts of the students, parents, teachers and the wider community.
He urged the beneficiaries to take their education seriously and make the sacrifices made on their behalf worthwhile as they embark on their Senior High School education.
