Felicia Kumah has emerged as a contender for an executive position within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Old Tafo Constituency, according to campaign material circulating in the constituency.
A campaign poster bearing her name and photograph calls on party supporters to “Vote Felicia Kumah” for the position of Executive Member in the Old Tafo Constituency.
The campaign material carries the NDC colours of red, green, black and white, alongside the party’s motto, “Development in Freedom,” and the message, “Together We Build A Better Tomorrow.”
Executive ambition
Ms Kumah’s campaign is centred on securing a place among the constituency’s executive leadership, a position that would involve participation in the organisation and administration of the party’s activities at the grassroots level.
The Old Tafo Constituency is one of the political constituencies in the Ashanti Region. The constituency has an established party structure comprising executives, branch-level activists and other stakeholders who play roles in organising party activities and mobilising support.
The 2024 Electoral Commission records identify Old Tafo as a constituency in the Ashanti Region.
Campaign message
The poster presents Ms Kumah under the slogan “Vote Felicia Kumah”, with her name prominently displayed.
It also identifies her as an aspiring Executive Member of the Old Tafo Constituency, making the executive position the central focus of the campaign.
Her campaign branding places emphasis on unity and future development, reflected in the message “Together We Build A Better Tomorrow.”
The message is positioned alongside the NDC’s traditional colours and branding, giving the campaign material a distinctly party-oriented identity.
Grassroots significance
Constituency executive positions are important within Ghana’s political party structures because constituency-level organisations serve as a link between party leadership and members at the grassroots.
An executive member may participate in constituency meetings, organisational activities, mobilisation efforts and other party programmes, depending on the responsibilities assigned within the constituency’s structure.
For Ms Kumah, the campaign therefore represents an attempt to secure a formal role within the NDC’s organisational structure in Old Tafo.
Old Tafo political landscape
Old Tafo is located in the Ashanti Region and has been a competitive constituency in Ghanaian parliamentary politics. In the 2024 parliamentary election, the constituency recorded a contest involving the New Patriotic Party (NPP), NDC and an independent candidate, among others.
Against that broader political background, internal party organisation remains an important component of constituency-level political activity.
Ms Kumah’s campaign comes with an emphasis on participation in the constituency’s executive structure, with her supporters being urged through the campaign poster to back her bid.
Call to supporters
The campaign material does not set out detailed policy proposals or a manifesto for the executive position. Instead, it focuses on her candidacy, party identity and the broader message of building a better future together.
With her name prominently displayed on campaign materials, Felicia Kumah is seeking the support of NDC delegates and members in Old Tafo as she pursues the Executive Member position.
The campaign now places her name among those seeking roles in the constituency’s internal leadership structure, with the outcome to be determined through the party’s internal electoral process.
