The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Mponua, Hon. Ibrahim Issahak, has urged newly enrolled pupils in the district to take their education seriously and remain committed to learning as they begin their journey through formal education.

Hon. Ibrahim Issahak made the call when he, together with the District Director of Education, visited selected schools across the Atwima Mponua District as part of activities marking the “My First Day in School” programme.

The programme, which is aimed at welcoming children entering school for the first time, provided an opportunity for the DCE and education authorities to interact with the young learners, teachers and school authorities and encourage the children to develop a positive attitude towards education.
During the visit, the DCE expressed his delight at witnessing the excitement and enthusiasm displayed by the newly enrolled children as they took their first steps into formal education.
He said the joy and eagerness exhibited by the children were a clear indication of their readiness to begin an important chapter of their lives.
Hon. Issahak encouraged the pupils to stay in school, pay attention to their teachers and take their studies seriously, stressing that education remained one of the surest pathways to a brighter and more promising future.
According to him, the children represented the future of the Atwima Mponua District and the country at large, making it necessary for all stakeholders to create an environment that would enable them to learn, develop their talents and realise their full potential.
He therefore urged the pupils not to be discouraged by challenges they might encounter during their educational journey but to remain focused and committed to their studies.
The DCE also called on parents and guardians to play an active role in the education of their children by providing them with the necessary support, guidance and encouragement both at home and in school.
He noted that the responsibility of educating children could not be left solely to teachers and school authorities, explaining that parents, communities and local authorities all had important roles to play in ensuring that children received quality education.
Hon. Issahak further urged teachers and school authorities to continue showing care and patience towards the young learners, particularly those who were experiencing the school environment for the first time.
He said creating a welcoming and child-friendly atmosphere would help pupils develop confidence and a positive attitude towards school.
The DCE stressed that every child deserved the opportunity to learn, grow and realise his or her full potential, regardless of their background.
He assured that the District Assembly would continue to support initiatives aimed at improving education and creating conducive learning environments for children across the district.
The “My First Day in School” programme forms part of efforts to encourage children of school-going age to enrol and remain in school while promoting the importance of basic education.
The visit also afforded the DCE and the District Education Directorate the opportunity to engage with teachers and school authorities on issues affecting the welfare and education of pupils.

The DCE expressed appreciation to parents, teachers and education officials for their continued efforts towards ensuring that children in Atwima Mponua receive the education and support needed to build a better future.

He reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to working with the Ghana Education Service and other stakeholders to promote quality education and improve the welfare of pupils in the district.
