The Minister for Education, Hon Haruna Iddrisu, received the Canadian High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Myriam Montrat, on a courtesy call, underscoring the strong partnership between Ghana and Canada in education and development.
During the meeting, Minister Iddrisu expressed appreciation for Canada’s longstanding support to Ghana’s education sector and poverty alleviation efforts .
The Canadian High Commissioner announced a $30 million commitment to support Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and youth competency-based training in Ghana.
Canada aims to help Ghana develop a skilled workforce that can compete globally, addressing youth unemployment and skills gaps.
Hon Haruna Iddrisu welcomed the support, emphasizing TVET and foundational learning as critical for Ghana’s educational transformation.
The Minister called for strengthened partnerships between Ghanaian and Canadian higher education institutions to promote research, innovation, and academic excellence.
