The Ashanti regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Andrews Augustus Nana Kwasi, has appealed to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to intervene in the Electoral Commission’s (EC) refusal to conduct a forensic audit of the voter register.
The NDC wants a forensic audit to ensure a trustworthy, free, fair, and transparent upcoming general election, but the EC has rejected the request, claiming the voter register is robust.
Despite the unresolved issue of the voter register, Nana Kwasi, while kneeling and making the passionate appeal to Otumfuo, expressed concern that the EC is proceeding with printing ballot papers for the polls, which could potentially lead to chaos in the elections.
Speaking at the campaign launch of the NDC in the Ejisu Constituency after a walk, he emphasized Otumfuo’s respected position and expressed hope that the EC would listen if he intervenes to ensure a clean register.
Nana Kwasi highlighted Otumfuo’s role as a peace-loving King who does not want election-related violence in the Ashanti region and the nation as a whole.
Therefore, he appealed to him to intervene to ensure a clean register for the December 7, general elections.
For his part, the National Vice Chairman of the NDC, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, stated that President Akufo Addo and Dr. Bawumia have destroyed the nation, emphasizing that the NDC flagbearer, John Mahama, is the only hope for the nation.
NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate for Ejisu Constituency, Deaconess Jerryne Asante, urged the people to vote for NDC for the Constituency’s development.
