Nana Asare Bediatuo II, the Nkosuohene of Nkawie-Kuma in the Nwabiagya South Municipality of Ashanti region has made a passionate appeal to the Electoral Commission (EC) to ensure a fair playing grounds for all the political parties towards the upcoming general elections.
According to him, the Chiefs,Men of the Gospel and other opinion leaders and stakeholders are doing whatever they could to help improve our democracy system to ensure peaceful and coexistence among the citizens for a sustainable development of the country.
He stated that the citizens are in the country and are aware of the happenings and could decide which political party is helpful to champion their wellbeing.
Speaking at a press briefing, the Nkosuohene disclosed that the sustainability and the peaceful elections largely depends on the electoral Commission ensuring transparency in delivering their exercise as a professional referee between all the contesting political parties before, during and after the elections.
He expressed the view that should the EC remains up unbiased, fair and transparent to the parties, whoever loose would take it in a good faith while Ghanaians as a whole would really behind whoever wins to move forward as a country with one destiny.
He also entreated the parties to remains vigilant throughout the electoral process in order not to put the blame on the EC after loosing the elections for their own neglegiance.
Nana Asare Bediatuo also pleaded with the authories in which are authorized to ensure the peaceful atmosphere during the exercise especially the security services and agencies to remain no partisan by giving the EC officials a free hands to operate for the sake of fairness and transparency.
The Nkosuohene who described himself as a youth also cautioned the youth not to allow themselves to be use by politicians to forment Electoral violence for their selfish interest and dump them after elections.
He reminded them that Ghana is the only country we have and must do everything to protect the peaceful atmosphere and coexistence we are enjoying as a country.
He stressed that when there is war or the peace we are enjoying is been jeopardize with political violence, the politicians could easily leave the country and leave the youth, women, children and the disabled to suffer alone.
