For his inability to control his sexual urge for his own church members, elders of the Association of the 7th Day Pentecostal Assembly, in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, have declared 21 days fasting for their head pastor, Micaiah Addai.
The spiritual exercise is to seek God’s intervention to strengthen the ‘man of God’ against his strong sexual desires for women in the church, particularly married women.
For instance, last week, the Manhyia Palace convicted pastor Addai for sleeping with the wife of one Kofi Adjei, one of his church members and ordered him to pay Ghc15,000 as compensation.
A 5-member panellists at the Asantehemaa’s palace at Manhyia held that four sheep must also be slaughtered to appease the gods of the land.
However, on June 13 2023, the pastor through one of the chiefs pleaded for clemency and was allowed to slaughter two sheep instead of the four.
Out of the 15,000 cedis compensation, Pastor Micaiah managed to make a part payment of GHc5000 and pleaded to settle the rest within a period of two months, a payment plan which the panel members refused and ordered that the rest be paid within a month instead.
The pastor, who already has three wives was allegedly behind Kofi Adjei’s woes for almost losing his marriage to his wife (name withheld), until the matter was sent to the Manhyia palace for redress, this reporter gathered.
According to Mr. Adjei, all efforts to convince his wife to return had hit a snag, “and with my confidence in the Manhyia Palace that the chiefs would be in a good position to interpret on how lawful divorce should take its cause, I summoned pastor Micaiah Addai, and I must say my soul is now happy, that at least I didn’t lose my 21 years marriage to such a greedy pastor, who claims to be a man of God.”
