Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, has won the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairmanship election, defeating his closest contender, Kwabena Kokofu, by a wide margin.
According to provisional results from the NPP 2026 Ashanti Regional Delegates Conference, COKA polled 663 votes, representing a commanding lead over Kokofu, who secured 269 votes.
The election, which attracted 1,020 delegates, was keenly contested as the two leading candidates sought to take charge of the party’s affairs in the Ashanti Region.
COKA’s victory gives him a strong mandate to lead the party’s regional structures at a time when the NPP is seeking to strengthen its grassroots organisation, rebuild unity and position itself for future electoral contests.
The margin of victory was particularly significant, with COKA obtaining more than twice the votes secured by Kokofu.
The results are, however, provisional and subject to the completion of the official processes by the party and the declaration of the final results.
COKA, a former Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, entered the contest with considerable experience within the party’s regional and grassroots structures. His return to the regional chairmanship is expected to place renewed emphasis on party mobilisation, unity and organisational strengthening.
The Ashanti Region remains a critical stronghold for the NPP, making the regional chairmanship one of the most closely watched positions in the party’s internal elections.
The outcome is therefore expected to have implications for the party’s strategy, grassroots mobilisation and preparations for the next electoral cycle.
With 663 votes against Kokofu’s 269, COKA has emerged as the clear winner of the Ashanti Regional Chairmanship race, pending the formal confirmation of the provisional results.
