Hon. Peter Amponsah, the newly confirmed District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amenfi Central in the Western Region has delivered a passionate and inspiring speech, highlighting the district’s challenges and potential.

He expressed gratitude to the President, Hon. John Dramani Mahama, and the Member of Parliament, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, for their leadership and commitment to the people of Amenfi Central.

Despite being rich in natural resources, including gold, cocoa, and timber, Amenfi Central remains one of the poorest constituencies in the Western Region.

Hon. Amponsah emphasized the need for urgent prioritization of development in the district, citing the lack of essential infrastructure such as a Minerals Commission office, DVLA office, National Health Insurance Authority office, a Nursing Training School, a Teacher Training College, and a University of Agriculture, Mines, and Technology.

The DCE highlighted several challenges facing the district, including poor road infrastructure, inadequate lighting systems, and poor telecommunication services. He specifically mentioned several road stretches that require immediate attention, including Sefwi Bekwai to Kyeikrom to Sompre to Asankrangwa and Agona Amenfi to Ankasie to Wassa Akropong. Hon. Amponsah also emphasized the need for a District Hospital to address the growing healthcare needs of the population.

Hon. Amponsah stressed the importance of education in the district’s development, noting that over 130 basic schools in Amenfi Central lack adequate support. He highlighted the need to expand the school feeding program to cover more schools, ensuring that every child has access to nutritious meals and quality education.

The DCE urged the Regional Minister and other stakeholders to prioritize development in Amenfi Central, bridging the gap between the district and more developed constituencies. He emphasized the need for collaborative effort and tireless service to achieve shared goals and bring about transformation to the district.

Hon. Peter Amponsah’s confirmation speech serves as a call to action for the development of Amenfi Central. With his commitment to serving the people and working collaboratively with stakeholders, there is hope for a brighter future for the district.

As the district navigates its challenges, it is expected that the government and other stakeholders will prioritize development and work towards creating a better life for the people of Amenfi Central.
