The leading Royal Gate of the Offinso Traditional Area, the Ahyirem Royal Family, has openly rejected the membership of Dr. K.K. Sarpong as a royal family member of the Offinso Traditional Area.
According to the Ahyirem Royal Family, a copy of the family tree presented by Dr. Sarpong as proof of his royalty, is nothing to write home about. However, the unflinching support by some kingmakers of the Offinso Traditional Area is only an attempt to leverage on the affluence nature of the former GNPC boss to getting him installed as chief of Offinso. The family has therefore urge Dr. K.K. Sarpong to discard every interest gained so far regarding the Offinso chieftaincy.
Whilst the Ahyirem Royal Family pledged their allegiance to the Asantehene, Otumfour Osei Tutu II. The Family openly condemned some youth of Offinso township for their gross disrespect towards the Asantehene, Otumfour Osei Tutu II, following the ongoing chieftaincy dispute between the Ahyirem Family and Akonkodease Family of Offinso.
Addressing a press conference at Afrancho on Thursday, 2nd November 2023, Secretary to the Ahyirem Royal Family, Thomas Agyare Boateng, stated that the youth are being compelled by some unscrupulous persons who are doing all they can to ensure that Dr. Kofi Kodua Sarpong is installed as Chief of Offinso.
The family therefore appealed to the Ghana Police Service(GPS) to crack the whip on any individual or group who attempt to cause any disorder by issuing disparaging remarks against the overlord of the Asante Kingdom.
