The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, has announced a major boost for the upcoming 42nd National Farmers Day Celebration, following a significant donation from the Eezzy Group Foundation to support this year’s national awards.
The Foundation has donated a brand-new pickup truck to be presented to the Overall National Best Farmer, 20 motorcycles for winners in various award categories, and a modern farming tractor to promote agricultural mechanisation across the country.
Hon. Eric Opoku described the gesture as a strong demonstration of the Foundation’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s agricultural sector and recognising the immense contributions of farmers to national development.
According to the Minister, the donation aligns with government’s vision of transforming agriculture through increased mechanisation, enhanced productivity and strategic partnerships with the private sector.
He noted that rewarding hardworking farmers serves as an incentive to boost food production, encourage innovation and attract more young people into agriculture.
The Minister further stated that the Eezzy Group Foundation’s intervention reflects the growing role of corporate organisations in supporting government efforts to modernise the agricultural sector and ensure food security.
Hon. Opoku expressed profound appreciation on behalf of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), Ghanaian farmers and the Government of Ghana for the Foundation’s generosity.
He said the support would contribute significantly to making the 42nd National Farmers Day celebration memorable while motivating farmers to continue their vital role in driving Ghana’s agricultural transformation agenda.
The National Farmers Day celebration remains Ghana’s foremost annual event dedicated to honouring farmers, fisherfolk and other stakeholders whose dedication sustains the country’s food systems and economic growth.
