Environmental Protection Authority Ladies Association Launched

Yesterday, March 4, 2025, marked a significant milestone for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Ghana, as the Environmental Protection Authority Ladies Association (EPALA) was officially launched at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Naa Deide Chamber.

The launch ceremony brought together patrons of EPALA, staff of EPA, sister institutions, and the media to celebrate women’s unity and dedication within the Authority. Prof. Nana Ama Browne Klutse, Ag. CEO of EPA, emphasized the critical role women play in environmental protection and sustainable development.

“We recognize the importance of women’s participation in environmental decision-making, and EPALA will serve as a platform to amplify their voices and contributions,” Prof. Klutse said.

EPALA President, Mrs. Jewel Kudjawu, outlined the association’s objectives, stating, “We aim to empower women, champion environmental sustainability, and create a network of leaders. We celebrate our unity, dedication, and the retirees who paved the way.”

The launch ceremony featured musical interludes, solidarity messages, and the introduction of EPALA’s interim executives. Special recognition was also given to retiring members, now patrons of EPALA, for their dedication and contributions to the Authority.

With the launch of EPALA, the EPA aims to create a platform that supports women’s professional and personal development while promoting environmental sustainability. This initiative is expected to contribute significantly to Ghana’s efforts to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable development.

The EPALA launch was supported by various institutions, including the Lands Commission – Ghana, Bank of Ghana, CSIR GHANA, Jospong Group of Companies, and the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation.
