One of Ghana’s best private medical consulting outfits, Famcare Medical Consult has organised its 7th free screening for residents of Krofrom, CPC, Dichemso and other adjoining communities in the Manhyia North area.
The screening exercise over the weekend provided the opportunity for residents to test to know their statuses in Malaria, Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure, Hepatitis and others.
Speaking to this reporter during the screening exercise, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Administrator of Famcare Consult, Mrs Manuella Scheppelmann Oppon said her outfit sees the screening as part of their corporate social responsibility to the people.
“We have been in existence for only three years but we decided to give back to the society which has given us space to operate. As a medical institution we also find fulfilment in doing this and that is why we visited the Suame community to do about three screening exercises. We have also planned a screening tour to Senior High Schools in Kumasi from next week”, Mrs Oppon disclosed.
Medical Officer:
Dr Kofi Frimpong Oppon, Specialist Family Physician at KATH and Famcare Clinic noted the importance for the public to go for medical check up at periodic intervals.
He said once people turned 30years and over they should begin a routine check of their health by visiting the hospital.
Ideally, he stated that 6months routine checks would help people to know what may be right or wrong with them.
“For us at Famcare we believe in the community and the people we serve and it is based on that reason that we take the screening to their doorsteps. We apart from the screening and diagnosis also provide medications to those who come to test for their status”, Dr Oppon posited.
Beneficiaries:
71 year old Paul Yaw Senya, a pensioner at CPC speaking to this reporter said he was happy to test to know his status.
“The knowledge that nothing was wrong with me after testing gives me satisfaction and I bless Famcare Consult for this gesture”, Mr Senya noted.
Matilda Asabre, 51year old trader said she had not tested to know her status for about 10 years now.
“I thank God for Famcare and for giving some of us this opportunity to test to know our status. My pressure level was high and after diagnosis i was treated and given medication to deal with same and I plan to go to the market on Monday and tell others to visit the hospital to test to know their status so that we don’t die silently”, the trader firmly stated.
