First Lady of the Republic, H.E. Mrs. Rebecca Naa Okaikor Akufo-Addo has called on NPP members, supporters and sympathisers in the Tema East constituency to ignore anybody who comes asking them to vote for President Akufo-Addo but not Hon. Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, stating that no lover of President Akufo-Addo and the NPP will go out to undermine the fortunes of the Party in the up-coming December elections by asking for “skirt and blouse” voting.

Mrs. Akufo-Addo made the assertion when she joined NPP MP for Tema East and Deputy Minister for Transport Hon. Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, NPP MP for Ablekuma North Hon Akua Owusu Afriyie, MCE for Tema Felix Mensah Nii Anang-La, Tema East NPP Constituency Chairman Mr. Ofoe Teye and other senior party officials, to tour the Tema East constituency, in the Greater Accra Region.

Addressing a mini-rally at Kplejootsoshishi at Tema Newtown Mrs. Akufo-Addo said the nature of Ghana’s politics required the President to have adequate representation in parliament to have laws and other legislative instruments passed, to make his work better.

She said those going around claiming to be Party faithfuls and yet asking for a vote for President Akufo-Addo and another, instead of the NPP’s parliamentary candidate, are only out to undermine the fortunes of the Party.

The First Lady said having a Member of Parliament like Hon. Titus Glover who is highly regarded by the President and can commandeer significant development projects to the constituency is what the people should work to secure in office.

She mentioned some of the projects undertaken under Hon. Titus Glover as improved road networks, construction of a dormitory at Tema Manhean Senior Technical School, construction of a new NHIA Office in Tema Manhean, construction of the Titus Glover mini stadium and facilitating the GPHA-funded astro-turf park in Tema Manhean which is 70% complete.

She also commended Hon. Titus Glover for his philanthropic works including sponsoring some medical surgeries and education of the needy in his constituency to tertiary level.

NPP MP for Ablekuma North Hon. Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie told the gathering that Hon. Titus is highly respected in Parliament because of his intelligence, honesty and affability and is currently the Chairman of Greater Accra Regional parliamentary caucus and wondered why anybody who claims to support President Akufo-Addo and the NPP would work to undermine the fortunes of such a party asset.

Chairman of the Tema East Market, Akwasi Agyeman commended President Akufo-Addo for the measures taken in the Covid-19 period including free water and electricity, and said the era of astronomical increases in electricity tariffs and fuel price hikes in rhe period of Dumsor under the Mahama-led NDC is still fresh in their minds.

Mr. Akwasi Agyeman also commended Hon. Titus Glover for the many development projects he has brought to the constituency especially the conversion of the ‘Aaten Amanua Korswe Dwaso’, an old filthy market for bulk goods which he has replaced with two big decent storage rooms with sanitary facilities attached.

As part of her tour, the First Lady also met with market women and fishmongers at the European Fish Market to share the success story of the Akufo-Addo government with them and appeal for their votes for the President and the NPP in the up-coming December 7th election.

At the Oninku Primary market in Tema Community 1 where she rounded up her tour with a mini-rally, Mrs. Akufo-Addo appealed to the gathering to go out in their numbers to exercise their civic duty by voting massively for President Akufo-Addo to avert a “return to Egypt”.
