The Ashanti Regional Organiser for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Francis Adomako on new year’s day presented food items, bags of sachet water and second hand clothing valued around GhC10, 000 cedis to the children at the Kumasi Children’s Home.
The gesture, an annual tradition by the Regional executive of the NPP is aimed at showing care for the children who through no fault of theirs find themselves at the home.
Presenting the items at a brief ceremony Sunday afternoon, Mr Adomako said having lost both parents he feels what the kids go through at the home.
“Even though I am old having lost my parents I have an idea of what these kids go through and that’s the more reason why I have decided to carry on with these donations so that the kids would have cause to smile”, the NPP organiser stressed.
COMMITMENT:
Mr Adomako stated that as a Christian he believes in giving to the needy since that was more blessed than always wanting to receive from others.
He stressed the need for others to emulate that mentality so that collectively they could help reduce the burden on orphanages and Children’s Homes across the country.
He promised that he would continue to use his office to lobby for support for such needy centers and homes so that their needs would be met at most times.
“I believe in what Christ enjoins us to do and that’s giving to help others and as I have the means I promise to help out anytime there is a need at this Home and elsewhere”, Mr Adomako intimated.
HEAD OF HOME:
Madam Mabel Amponsah, Head of the Kumasi Children’s Home thanked the NPP executive who she revealed was her lecturer in the university.
She noted that the gesture was timely and needful since the Home at times struggled to make it with only government subvention.
Madam Amposah therefore asked other private individuals as well as corporate bodies to look to the Kumasi Children’s Home and support them with items that would be needful.
“People have been good to us this Christmas and throughout last year but we appeal that they continue to help in same manner so that we can be able to offer the best of care to our children here at the Kumasi Children’s Home”, Mrs Amponsah stated.
