The people of Mepe marked their annual Afenorto Festival with renewed pride — and a notable boost from MTN Ghana, which contributed GH¢20,000 to support the celebrations.

For MTN Ghana, this gesture was more than philanthropy; it was part of a longstanding tradition of partnering with communities through their most cherished cultural events. The company supports over 40 festivals annually, viewing them as powerful platforms to engage customers, promote heritage, and foster economic activity.

Presenting the cheque on behalf of MTN Ghana, Ransford Gyan, Regional Manager for Eastern, Volta, and Oti, noted that festivals are a bridge between tradition and modern connectivity.

> “Afenorto is about togetherness — and MTN is here to connect you not just digitally, but socially and culturally,” he said.

The festival grounds reflected that ethos, with MTN setting up customer care and sales points, running mobile money fraud awareness campaigns, and introducing attendees to new digital services.

Torgbe Kwasi Nego VI, Mankralo of Mepe, commended MTN’s sustained involvement in cultural life, highlighting that such partnerships boost local morale, tourism, and commerce.

The Afenorto Festival, known for its reunions and homecoming spirit, has grown into a space for cultural pride, family bonding, and strategic planning for community development. For MTN, blending connectivity with culture ensures that the brand’s footprint extends beyond network towers — into the heart of the communities it serves.
