The Ga Mantse, His Royal Majesty Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has endorsed the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF), calling it a vital national intervention to improve access to specialized healthcare for Ghanaians facing life-threatening illnesses.
He made the pledge when a high-level GMTF delegation, led by Administrator Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku and Board Member Dr. Adu Agyei Gyamfi, paid a courtesy call on the Ga Mantse Palace ahead of the Homowo Festival. The visit aimed to deepen ties with traditional leaders, raise public awareness, and rally national support to ensure financial hardship never prevents citizens from receiving specialized care.
During the visit, the delegation updated the King on the Fund’s progress, patient impact, and plans to invest in medical infrastructure, equipment, training, and research. Commending the initiative, the Ga Mantse emphasized that national development relies on a healthy populace and promised to leverage the Ga State’s influence to champion the Fund’s mission.
To support the upcoming Homowo celebrations, the GMTF presented 100 boxes of bottled water and 100 boxes of soft drinks to the palace. Expressing his gratitude, His Royal Majesty praised the Fund for combining its healthcare mandate with a respect for local cultural heritage.
