The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, Esq., is set to speak at the National Mining Dialogue 2026, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra.
The high-level dialogue, which is expected to attract key players in Ghana’s mining industry, will provide a platform for stakeholders to examine emerging challenges and opportunities within the sector and explore practical measures to promote responsible, sustainable and inclusive mining.
The 2026 edition of the dialogue is being held under the theme, “Rethinking the Social License to Operate,” a subject that is expected to generate extensive discussions on the relationship between mining companies, host communities, government, traditional authorities and other stakeholders.
Mr. Gyamfi’s participation is expected to add significant perspective to discussions on the future of Ghana’s gold and mining industry, particularly at a time when the country continues to pursue reforms aimed at maximising the benefits of its mineral resources.
The concept of a social licence to operate has become increasingly important in the mining sector, with mining companies expected to go beyond obtaining statutory permits and approvals to building trust, maintaining meaningful relationships with host communities and demonstrating responsible environmental and social practices.
The National Mining Dialogue will therefore offer stakeholders an opportunity to reflect on how mining operations can secure and sustain community acceptance while contributing meaningfully to local and national development.
Discussions are also expected to focus on responsible mining practices, environmental protection, community participation, value addition, job creation and the need for stronger collaboration among government institutions, mining companies, traditional authorities, communities and civil society organisations.
As Ghana seeks to strengthen its position as a major gold-producing country, stakeholders are increasingly calling for a mining regime that not only generates revenue but also delivers tangible benefits to communities and protects the environment for future generations.
Mr. Gyamfi’s address is consequently expected to highlight the role of GoldBod and other sector stakeholders in shaping a more transparent, accountable and sustainable gold value chain.
