The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Ahafo Ano South West District in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Abubakar Sedik, has said his immediate priority is to accelerate the development of the district rather than focus on the next election.
According to him, the mandate entrusted to him is an opportunity to serve the people and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic transformation of the district.
“I don’t think about the next election. My focus now is the development of Ahafo Ano South West District,” the DCE stated.
Hon. Sedik said he was more interested in delivering tangible development to the people than engaging in premature political calculations about future elections.
He explained that the needs of the people, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, roads, sanitation, water and other essential services, required sustained attention and commitment from the district administration.
The DCE said his administration would therefore continue to work with stakeholders, including traditional authorities, assembly members, community leaders, development partners and residents, to identify pressing challenges and implement practical interventions.
He stressed that development should be the central focus of local governance, noting that the success of any administration should ultimately be measured by the positive impact its programmes and projects have on the lives of residents.
Hon. Sedik also urged residents to support the Assembly’s development agenda by participating actively in community development initiatives and providing constructive feedback on projects and programmes.
He said the Assembly remained committed to creating an environment that would promote economic activity, improve public services and enhance the general living conditions of people within the district.
The DCE’s comments come at a time when political discussions about future elections are gradually gaining attention across the country. However, he maintained that his attention was firmly on the task of developing Ahafo Ano South West and fulfilling the responsibilities of his office.
He said the district’s development needs were too important to be overshadowed by political ambitions, adding that his priority was to leave a positive legacy through effective leadership and meaningful development.
Hon. Sedik consequently called for unity and cooperation among the people, saying the collective efforts of residents and stakeholders would be crucial to achieving the district’s development objectives.
He assured the people of Ahafo Ano South West that the Assembly would continue to pursue initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and public services while creating opportunities for residents to improve their livelihoods.
He said his administration would remain focused, committed and responsive to the needs of the people as it worked towards making Ahafo Ano South West a better place to live, work and invest.
For Hon. Sedik, the message is clear: the development of the district comes first, while electoral considerations can wait.
