The Paramount Chief of the Konkomba people in the Nkwanta North constituency, Wubori Tasan Konja VI, has urged his people to promote peace and unity despite allegations surrounding the selection of a District Chief Executive (DCE). The Chief’s call comes amid tensions in the Oti Region, where Konkombas feel marginalized in the appointment of MMDCEs ¹.
Chief Konja VI emphasized that the Konkomba communities are not aggressive and instead encouraged the youth to focus on development and peace. He also appealed to the Member of Parliament, Hon John Oti Bless, to calm his constituents and allow the government to choose a suitable candidate for the constituency’s development.
The Chief’s statement was made during an interview with broadcast journalist Ibrahim Nsor and Power979fm. He clarified that not all Konkombas support the recent attacks and manipulations, and urged everyone to remain calm and wait for the right leader to emerge.
