KsTU Launches Research And Innovation Week 2023

The Kumasi Technical University, has officially launched its research and innovation week 2023 at a conference held at the university on February 14, 2023.

 

At a mini conference held at the university’s council chamber chaired by the vice chancellor(VC), ING. Prof. Osei Wusu- Achaw, featured industry players from both public and private sector, head of various faculty units in various institutes at the university, and pressmen who converged for the promotion of tangible knowledge yet to be showcased to the world from 20th – 24th March 2023. At KsTU campus On the Theme: Sustainable Development and Emerging Disruptions: The rule of Research and Innovation.

 

The vice chancellor in his address stated That, ” From 20th-24th March, for a period of about 4 days, we will open our doors to the general public to come and experience some of our research and innovative products that we intend to commercialize.”

 

“Therefore, there is the need for us to collaborate with industry to engage in innovative research to support the industry and the economy of the nation,” he added.

He further explained that, such a period will also help to deepen the university’s relationships with stakeholders and to better educate them to understand that, “There is no better place in this country to receive training than one can have in Kumasi Technical University.”

This according to the vice chancellor, is the scripted mandate of all Technical Universities as stipulated by the technical universities Act( Act 922 and Act 974). And KsTU is bent on delivering its mandate enjoined on them to train students at all levels to acquire skills to serve society, industry and indeed themselves.

 

The Director of the Institute of Research, Innovation and Development (IRID), Dr. Smart Sarpong, also highlighted on the need to bringing to light products from the university through its research and innovative ways for easy and convenience in our everyday activities.

 

“I would therefore like to extend an invitation to the general public through the media to be part of our 2023 research and innovation week program on 20th-24 March, at the Kumasi Technical University for effective learning and understanding.”

The 2023 research and innovation week is slated to have;

1) Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka

2) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ( Vice president)

3) Dr. George Akuffu Dampare

4) Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum ( Education minister)

as guest speakers.
