Kumasi Mayor Joins CJ to commission Atasemanso court project

The Mayor of Kumasi, Sam Pyne together with the Chief Justice, His Lordship Kwasi Anin Yeboah has commissioned a circuit court building for the Atasemanso community within the Nhyiaeso sub-metro.

The project built through the efforts of the local government ministry with funds from the District Assemblies Common fund (DACF) is intended to provide easy access to justice for the people in Nhyiaeso and other adjoining communities.

Speaking before unveiling ceremony, the Chief Justice commended the President and the NPP government for ensuring the construction of modern facilities to house the courts in the country.

“On assumption of office I together with the Judicial Service Board and other allied agencies consulted the President on the need to revamp and construct new facilities to house the courts in the country and even though it was quite ambitious I am happy to say each of the MMDAs in the country now has a court to serve justice to the people”, the CJ stated.

The CJ noted that his administration intends to build over 100 courts to ensure that justice is delivered and served at friendly and modern environments.

He noted that the investments in achieving this target was huge but was happy with the commitment of the President and the government to get them done.

Mr Anin Yeboah urged the people to make use of the courts to seek justice on legal matters but cautioned that they should bear in mind that the processes may not be quick as they may want it.

“I charge the courts to dispense justice with smoothly and timeously even though I must caution the citizenry that the wheels of justice grinds slowly but surely”, Mr Anin Yeboah stressed.

On his part, the Mayor for Kumasi, Sam Pyne commended the Overlord of Asanteman,  Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his support, vision and guidance to the government and to KMA in particular.

The Mayor also thanked the Chief of Atasemanso, Nana Owusu Barima III for providing land for the court project which he noted would improve access to affordable and timely justice.

Hon Pyne said that the availability of the court in the community would enhance public confidence in the justice delivery and the court administration system.

“I am happy that this court project would bring justice to the doorsteps of the people, provide equal access to justice regardless of individual’s social standing as well as help to provide knowledge and foster public trust in the courts and thereby assert the authority of the judiciary”, the Mayor noted.
