Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Presents Medium Term Development Plan for 2026-2029

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) convened on September 11 to present its Medium Term Development Plan spanning 2026-2029 at Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi.

The gathering included key stakeholders such as Metro Coordinating Director Francis Dwira Darko, Assembly Members, Heads of Department, and unit committee members.

The Medium Term Development Plan, formulated every four years, is crucial for budgeting new projects that address community needs, according to Francis Dwira Darko, Metro Coordinating Director. The presentation highlighted the assembly’s approach to identifying and tackling critical issues affecting residents.

Mr Charles Kwesi Adjei, Head of the Physical Planning Unit, led the presentation and reviewed the previous plan (2022-2025). Needs assessments were gathered from twelve town councils, leading to the identification of ten critical issues accepted by all participants:
1. Security Issues
2. Education Issues
3. Road Issues
4. Toilet Facilities Issues
5. Market Issues
6. Sanitation/Waste Management Issues
7. Employment Issues
8. School Infrastructure Issues
9. Water Issues
10. Sub-Structure Issues

Speaking to the media after the presentation,the Metro Coordinating Director ,Mr Francis Dwira Darko assured that all expressed needs would be communicated to relevant stakeholders. He encouraged community participation in assembly initiatives and stressed the importance of maintaining clean surroundings to prevent diversion of funds from development projects to address sanitation concerns.

The presentation underscores KMA’s commitment to addressing key development challenges in Kumasi through structured planning and stakeholder engagement, aiming to improve the quality of life for residents.
