Mr.Kwaku Dua Independent Parliamentary Candidate for Sekyere Kumawu Constituaecy in the Ashanti region has called on the youth to invest in farming.
According to him, farming is a lucrative business that needs to be given attention in the country.
He said farming pays alot that is why he has made more investment himself.
Mr.Kwaku Dua,who has a dream of becoming the next Member of Parliament for the area however admonished farming to cultivate the habit of adopting old method of farming.
He was of the view that modern system of farming is not helping the Ghanaian farmer.
Adding that, foreign system of farming does not help farmers in the country because of application of chemicals.
He said these chemicals when applied kill the nutrients in the soil.
He also explained why Ghanaian farmers should discourage the cultivation of GMO maize in the country.
He stressed that the GMO maize is not good and therefore should not be entertained .
” Even the whites who cultivate GMO maize don’t eat it but rather use to feed their birds .”He said.
Adding that when the GMO maize is encouraged in Ghana then Ghanaians should be ready to import the seedlings from abroad because the GMO maize seedlings which is now given for free by the whites is not as free as farmers in Ghana think.
He is however prepared to support anyone who wants to do farming in the Constituency.
