The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Ahafo Ano South West District in the Ashanti Region, Abubakar Sedik, has joined members of the Muslim community at the Baneɛkrom Central Mosque in a solemn act of worship and reflection as part of activities marking the holy month of Ramadan.
The visit formed part of the DCE’s ongoing peace and community engagement mission across the district, aimed at strengthening unity, fostering religious harmony, and deepening collaboration between traditional leadership, religious groups, and the local government administration.
Addressing the congregation after the prayers, Mr. Sedik expressed profound gratitude to the Muslim leadership and the entire Islamic community for their continued prayers, encouragement, and unwavering support since his appointment as District Chief Executive. According to him, the spiritual backing and goodwill from the Muslim faithful have played a significant role in motivating him to work diligently for the development of the district.
He noted that the holy month of Ramadan serves as a powerful reminder of the values of sacrifice, humility, peace, and compassion, virtues which he said are essential not only in religious life but also in governance and leadership.
“Ramadan is a sacred period that calls for deep reflection, unity, and commitment to the wellbeing of society. I am grateful to the Muslim leadership and the entire community for their prayers and continuous support since I assumed office as District Chief Executive. Your prayers strengthen my resolve to serve the people of this district with dedication and integrity,” he stated.
Mr. Sedik further emphasized that his administration remains firmly committed to pursuing policies and initiatives that will promote sustainable development, improve livelihoods, and create opportunities for the people of the district. He assured residents that the Assembly would continue to prioritize infrastructure development, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and economic growth.
The DCE also used the opportunity to call for peace, cooperation, and collective responsibility among residents, stressing that the progress of the district depends on unity among its people irrespective of religious, political, or ethnic differences.
He encouraged the Muslim community to continue praying for peace, stability, and prosperity within the district and the nation at large.
Leaders of the Muslim community at Banikrom Central Mosque warmly welcomed the DCE and commended him for taking time out of his busy schedule to worship with them during the sacred period. They assured him of their continued prayers and support for his leadership and pledged their readiness to collaborate with the district assembly to advance development in the area.
They also prayed for wisdom, strength, and divine guidance for Mr. Sedik as he leads the district through a path of growth and transformation.
The visit formed part of the DCE’s broader peace mission initiative during Ramadan, which seeks to strengthen bonds between the district administration and various faith-based communities across the district.
As the holy month continues, the gesture by Mr. Sedik has been widely described by community members as a demonstration of inclusive leadership and respect for religious diversity, reinforcing the spirit of unity and cooperation that remains essential for the sustained development of the Ahafo Ano South West District.
