Goldline Mining Ghana Limited,first black man owned mining company in Ghana has schooled close to thirteen communities in the Amansie South District in the Ashanti region on mining project.
Engaging community members at Manso Wahaso-Aponapon in the said district,the Chief Executive Officer of Goldline Mining Ghana Limited,Mr.Emmanuel Ababio made it known that,the reason for engaging community members on mining is to help members understand and also come to terms with the environmental impact when the actual mining work by his company begins.
He said, community members would be addressed on environmental impact assessment for some years to have knowledge on the environment.
He revealed that,Goldline Mining Ghana Limited has invested $890m in the sector will soon build 10,000 tons per day capacity gold ore processing plant which will not be far from the company’s mining site.
According to him,the meeting was aimed at enlightening all member communities on what to expect from the company and also offer the opportunity to the local leaders to ask questions on issues bordering them .
Mr.Ababio revealed that, Goldline Mining Ghana Limited would undertake large scale agriculture for the benefit of the communities it operates.
Adding that,it is the aim of the company to reclaim all lands within it’s concession which have been degraded by illegal miners and use such lands for agriculture.
The agriculture sector by his company according to him will employ most people within the locality.
On his part,Hon.William Asante Bediako , District Chief Executive for the area advised Ghanaians to stop tagging ‘Mansoman’ as illegal mining prone areas.
According to him,Manso is blessed with alot of natural resources and is about time Ghanaians advertise the area to catch the attention of investers to invest in the area.
He was of the view that,when people starts to speak ill about his district,no invester would be encouraged to invest in the area.This he said will hinder the progress of the communities and it’s affable people who are ready to work.
Mr.Asante , however called on parents to encourage their wards to persue science and engineering courses at their Senior High School levels and tertiary level which he said will get them quick employment at the mining sector.
He said, the setting up of Goldline Mining Ghana Limited at Manso will create employment to the local people and the region at large.
He then advised members to support the mining company and adhere to all rules and regulations govering mining.
Nana Opiah Mensah II, Otumfour Wirempehene,who was at the occasion appealed to the mining company to employ more youth in the area into the company,this he said will reduce the tendency of illegal mining and unemployment rate in the district.
