MCE Wisdom Osei Boamah Inaugurates POLAS Royal Ladies in Atwima Nwabiagya South

The Abuakwa Divisional Chapter of the Police Ladies Association (POLAS) has been officially inaugurated in a colourful ceremony aimed at strengthening law enforcement and empowering women within the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality.

The event, held at Abuakwa, was spearheaded by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Atwima Nwabiagya South District, Wisdom Osei Boamah, who described the formation of the divisional chapter—known as the Royal Ladies—as a significant step toward promoting professionalism, unity, and gender inclusion within the Ghana Police Service.

In his address, Hon. Osei Boamah emphasized the crucial role women play in law enforcement and national development. He noted that the establishment of the POLAS chapter in Abuakwa would not only provide a platform for female police officers to support one another but would also enhance community engagement and foster closer collaboration between the police and residents.
“Today’s inauguration is a testament to our collective commitment to strengthening security and empowering the women who serve diligently in our police service,” he stated. “The Police Ladies Association stands as a beacon of unity, resilience, and progress.”
The ceremony brought together key stakeholders, including senior police officers, municipal officials, traditional leaders, and community members. The gathering underscored the importance of partnerships in promoting safety and development within the municipality.

Hon. Osei Boamah commended members of the Police Ladies Association for their dedication and professionalism, urging them to continue serving as role models both within the security service and in the wider community. He stressed that empowering women in uniform contributes directly to improved service delivery, community trust, and sustainable development.
The inauguration featured symbolic activities, including a cake-cutting ceremony and interactions among dignitaries and members of the association. The atmosphere was marked by camaraderie and optimism, reflecting the shared vision of advancing law enforcement while promoting gender equity.

The newly inaugurated Abuakwa Divisional Chapter is expected to undertake initiatives focused on mentorship, welfare support, community outreach, and advocacy on issues affecting women within the service and society at large.

Residents of Atwima Nwabiagya South have welcomed the initiative, expressing confidence that the strengthened role of women in policing will enhance community security and deepen public trust in law enforcement institutions.
