MTN Ghana, in partnership with Sanlam Alliance, has conducted a comprehensive two-day orientation and training program for over 120 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Ashanti Regional capital.
The initiative aimed to equip young entrepreneurs, particularly from the batik, tie-dye, and cosmetics industries, with fundamental business management skills.
At the event,participants received guidance on critical practices including bookkeeping, record-keeping, and data management to enhance operational tracking.
SMEs were divided into groups based on their business sectors for focused brainstorming with industry experts on expansion strategies and sustainability leveraging MTN network technology and internet resources.
The training highlighted the importance of meeting growing consumer demands for excellent customer service, a key factor for SME success in today’s business landscape.
Mr.Mohammed Abubakar Sidick, Senior Sales Manager for MTN Ghana’s Northern Business District, stated that the Business SMEs Clinic was designed to empower participants to navigate contemporary business challenges.
“We at MTN are keenly aware of the expectations customers place on their service providers, particularly SMEs. This is why, in collaboration with Sanlam Alliance, we decided to reorient the mindset and capabilities of these 120 participants,” Mr. Sidick said.
Dr. Victoria Opoku-Ware, SME owner and KNUST lecturer, praised the program, finding insights on employee background checks particularly valuable.
Mr. Sebastian Appiah, Business Executive at Jackson University College, appreciated the simplified bookkeeping approach, noting it would aid accurate documentation of sales and production.
The collaboration between MTN Ghana and Sanlam Alliance underscores a commitment to enhancing SME capabilities, fostering business growth, and promoting long-term sustainability in Ghana’s dynamic economic environment.
