NDC Government Honours Edim Kese at Wassa Akropong

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, led by the Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Nelson, has honored the Edim Kese festival at Wassa Akropong, reaffirming its commitment to the development of the Wassa Amenfi traditional area.

The event, which brought together dignitaries from the ruling party, including Members of Parliament, Municipal Chief Executives, and other officials, was marked by a significant cash donation of One Hundred and Eighty Thousand Ghana Cedis to support educational initiatives and other development projects in the area.

In a speech delivered at the event, Hon. Joseph Nelson highlighted the government’s efforts to improve the lives of the people of Wassa Amenfi, citing major development projects currently underway or in the pipeline. These include the construction of key roads, such as the Bawdie to Asankragwa-Agona to Sehwi Bekwai, Asanka Breman-Fojourkrom, and Semre Aboi to Mumuni-Prestia Nkwata roads, which are expected to boost economic activity and connectivity in the region.

Additionally, the government has announced plans to establish a College of Education in Wassa Amenfi, a move that is expected to enhance access to quality education and promote human resource development in the area.

Hon. Nelson emphasized the government’s commitment to the development of the Wassa Amenfi traditional area, stating that the cash donation was a demonstration of the party’s dedication to supporting education and other initiatives that promote the welfare of the people.

The event was attended by prominent NDC officials, including Hon. Eric Aful, Member of Parliament for Wassa Amenfi West; Hon. Nicholas Amankwah, Member of Parliament for Wassa Amenfi East; Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, Member of Parliament for Wassa Amenfi Central; and Hon. Issah Taylor, Member of Parliament for Tarkwa Nsuaem.

Also in attendance were the Municipal Chief Executives for Wassa Amenfi traditional area, Hon. Raymond Nana Ebba, Hon. Peter Amponsah, and Hon. Priscilla York, representing Amenfi East, Central, and West respectively.

The Edim Kese festival, a significant cultural event in the Wassa Amenfi traditional area, provides an opportunity for the people to come together and celebrate their heritage, while also reflecting on the progress made in the area and the challenges that remain to be addressed.

The NDC government’s gesture is seen as a demonstration of its commitment to the development of the Wassa Amenfi traditional area and its people, and is expected to further strengthen the bond between the government and the community.
