Leading members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Saturday joined family, friends, and sympathizers in Kumasi to mourn with renowned man of God Prophet Ebenezer Adarkwa Yiadom following the passing of his beloved sister, Nana Alberta Osei.
The high-powered delegation, led by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, attended the final funeral rites held at the Bantama AstroTurf. The event drew a large gathering of political leaders, religious figures, traditional authorities, and members of the public who came to pay their last respects.
Accompanying the Chief of Staff were the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi; the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Social Investment Fund, Abass Nurudeen, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NDC, Augustus Andrews Nana Kwasi, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi’s political rival in the region and Dr Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional Chairman.
The delegation’s presence underscored the NDC’s gesture of solidarity and compassion toward the respected man of God and his family during this period of grief. As part of their support, the party’s leadership presented a donation of GH¢200,000 to assist the bereaved family with funeral arrangements and related expenses.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Mr. Debrah conveyed heartfelt condolences from the leadership and members of the NDC to Prophet Yiadom and his family. He noted that moments of loss transcend political affiliations and called for unity and empathy in times of mourning.
“We came here today not only as political leaders but as brothers and sisters who share in the grief of our fellow Ghanaian,” Mr. Debrah stated. “The NDC stands with Prophet Opambour and his family in this difficult moment and prays for strength and comfort for them.”
The late Nana Alberta Osei, whose passing occurred last year, was remembered by family members and mourners as a caring and supportive woman whose life touched many within her community.
The funeral ceremony featured traditional rites, prayers, and tributes from relatives, church members, and community leaders. Prophet Opambour, founder and leader of the Ebenezer Miracle and Worship Centre, expressed gratitude to the NDC delegation and all sympathizers who traveled from far and near to support his family.
Many mourners described the turnout as a reflection of the respect and admiration Prophet Yiadom commands across different sections of society, including religious and political circles.
The presence of senior NDC figures and their generous donation further highlighted the party’s commitment to fostering unity and extending compassion to citizens during moments of personal loss.
The final funeral rites concluded with prayers for the peaceful repose of Nana Alberta Osei’s soul and a call on the family to remain strong in the face of their loss.
