The Future Gold FGR Bogoso Prestea Ltd (FGR) is on the brink of collapse, and the blame squarely falls on the shoulders of Hon. Mireku Duker, the Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament for Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency.

Despite being entrusted with the oversight of mining operations, Hon. Duker has failed miserably in his duties, allowing the mine to deteriorate to a critical state. The investors who acquired the mining lease have shamelessly neglected their responsibilities, thanks to alleged hefty payments made to Hon. Duker to secure their control over the company.

It’s outrageous that since the takeover, these investors have not invested a single dollar into the mine, leading to its imminent collapse. This dire situation isn’t just a matter of financial loss; it’s a threat to the livelihoods of thousands of residents in the Bogoso Prestea enclave and the well-being of mineworkers who depend on the mine for sustenance.

Repeated calls on the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources to intervene has fallen on deaf ears, showcasing a blatant disregard for the welfare of the affected communities and workers.

The recent demonstrations by residents and mine workers underscored  the severity of the situation, yet Hon. Duker remains indifferent to their plight.

Furthermore, suppliers are suffering with millions of dollars locked up in unpaid invoices, further exacerbating the economic crisis caused by the neglect of the mining company.

It’s evident that Hon. Mireku Duka has been compromised, prioritizing personal gain over his duty to serve the public interest. His refusal to act in the face of mounting evidence of negligence is not only unacceptable but also morally reprehensible.

The people of Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency entrusted Hon. Duker with their well-being, yet he has failed them miserably. It’s time for accountability. The authorities must investigate these allegations of corruption and negligence thoroughly, and appropriate action must be taken to salvage what remains of the Bogoso Gold Mine and restore hope to the affected communities.

The collapse of the mine is not just an economic disaster; it’s a human tragedy unfolding before our eyes, and Hon. Mireku Duker must be held accountable for his role in this catastrophe.
