Popular Kumasi-based broadcaster with New Mercury FM, Dominic Owusu, widely known in media circles as Koola City, has been enstooled as the Chief of Anuwoho, popularly known as Apatrapa-Pokukrom, in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
Following the traditional rites and customary processes, the veteran radio personality was officially installed under the stool name Nana Kwarfo III, becoming the Otumfo Bosomprakumahene.
The colourful installation ceremony brought together traditional authorities, family members, friends, colleagues from the media fraternity, opinion leaders, and scores of residents who gathered to witness the historic occasion.
The event was marked by rich displays of Ashanti culture, including traditional drumming, dancing and the performance of customary rites to signify his elevation to the stool. The installation also underscored the enduring relationship between traditional leadership and community development.
As Otumfo Bosomprakumahene, Nana Kwarfo III is expected to work closely with the traditional council to promote peace, unity and development within Anuwoho (Apatrapa-Pokukrom) and its surrounding communities.
His responsibilities will also include supporting the preservation of the customs, values and cultural heritage of the Ashanti Kingdom while serving as a bridge between the traditional authorities and the people.
Known for his outspoken and community-oriented approach to broadcasting, Koola City has built a strong reputation over the years as one of Kumasi’s respected radio personalities.
Through his programmes on New Mercury FM, he has championed public education, social development and discussions on issues affecting ordinary Ghanaians.
Speaking after his installation, Nana Kwarfo III expressed profound gratitude to the traditional authorities and the people for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to discharge his responsibilities with humility, integrity and dedication.
He assured the people that his reign would focus on promoting peace, youth empowerment, education and community development while preserving the rich cultural traditions of the area.
Nana Kwarfo III further called on residents, the youth and all stakeholders to unite behind the traditional leadership to accelerate the socio-economic development of the community.
Several dignitaries who attended the ceremony congratulated the newly installed chief and expressed confidence in his ability to combine his experience as a broadcaster with effective traditional leadership.
They described his installation as a recognition of his contributions to society and expressed optimism that he would use his influence and leadership to champion initiatives that would improve the welfare of the people of Apatrapa-Pokukrom and beyond.
