The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially opened nominations for aspirants seeking to contest various national officer positions in the party’s upcoming national elections.
The nomination process, which commenced on Monday, August 17, 2026, will run until Saturday, August 22, 2026, with prospective aspirants expected to submit their nominations between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. each day.
The National Officers Elections Committee has urged all interested party members who intend to contest the various positions to take advantage of the stipulated period to pick up their nomination forms and complete all required procedures.
According to the committee, aspirants are required to come along with the appropriate filing fees, which may be paid either in cash or by cheque, when collecting their nomination forms.
Nine Pick Forms on Day One.
At the close of nominations on the first day, a total of nine aspirants had picked up nomination forms to contest eight of the advertised national positions.
The breakdown indicates that two aspirants picked forms for the position of National Chairman, while one aspirant each picked forms for the positions of National Vice Chairman, General Secretary, National Treasurer, National Organizer, National Women Organizer, National Nasara Coordinator and National Communications Director.
The figures suggest that the National Chairman position has attracted the highest number of aspirants so far, with two persons indicating their intention to lead the party at the national level.
The other positions have each recorded one aspirant as of the close of the first day, although additional aspirants are expected to pick forms before the nomination period ends.
Committee Urges Compliance.
The National Officers Elections Committee has reminded all prospective aspirants to strictly adhere to the nomination timetable and ensure that all required documentation and processes are duly completed within the prescribed period.
The committee is expected to continue receiving nominations throughout the six-day window, giving interested party members an opportunity to formally declare their intentions and enter the race for the various national executive positions.
The NPP’s national elections are expected to be closely watched as the party prepares to reorganise its structures and strengthen its leadership ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Chairperson of the National Officers Elections Committee, Hon. Frederick Opare-Ansah, signed the announcement and reiterated the committee’s responsibility to oversee the nomination process in accordance with the party’s established procedures.
With nominations continuing until Saturday, August 22, the number of aspirants contesting the various positions could increase significantly before the process is formally closed.
