Prophet Gyimah’s recent remarks describing Ghanaians as “foolish” for electing President John Dramani Mahama over Dr. Mahamud Bawumia have been met with strong criticism from political analyst Mr. Agbenya Precious.
Mr. Agbenya deemed the Prophet’s comments as “unfortunate, disrespectful, and dismissive of the electorate’s intelligence.”
The Prophet’s assertion that Bawumia is more intelligent than President Mahama is seen as hyperbolic and ignorant of the complexities of political choice.
Mr. Agbenya emphasized that voter behavior is influenced by various factors, including policies, governance, and personal experiences.
The results of the 2024 election, where President Mahama secured a convincing victory with over 6.3 million votes, reflect the electorate’s informed decision.
Dismissing this decision as unintelligent reveals a profound disconnect from the sentiments of the Ghanaian people and undermines the democratic process.
Mr. Agbenya also criticized Mr. Kofi Akpaloo’s claims that former President Akufo-Addo’s achievements surpass those of any other African president. While some infrastructure projects have been initiated, many remain incomplete or underfunded.
The agenda 111 hospitals initiative is a prime example of unfulfilled promises.
Furthermore, Mr. Agbenya urged the Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) team to investigate Kofi Akpaloo ,founder and leader of LPG and recover any misallocated funds.
He emphasized the importance of holding individuals accountable and ensuring public resources are used effectively.
The political activist reminded Ghanaians to reflect on the past few years, recognizing the impact of bad governance on citizens’ lives. The NPP’s significant loss reflects the electorate’s dissatisfaction with the previous administration’s performance.
Mr. Agbenya condemned the insulting language used by some individuals on social media, particularly against President Mahama.
He stressed that such rhetoric is disrespectful, counterproductive, and undermines the democratic process.
Instead, he urged Ghanaians to focus on facts, truth, and accountability, working collectively towards the nation’s progress.
