A group calling itself the concerned youth of Volta region, has mounted pressure on Mr. John Dramani Mahama, the former President of Ghana and the flag bearer of the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the party to select a candidate from the Volta region as his running mate to partner him Come 2020 general elections.
In a press release by the concerned youth of Volta signed by Previous Agbenya, President of the group and copied to the Chronicle stated that, they believe that, in making winning of the next elections mere formality for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), it’s appropriate and in the right direction to appoint a running mate from the region.
According to them, all indicators in the running of the party from constituency to regional levels has clearly shown that, members from the Volta region are more than capable to move the party from opposition into government, considering government abysmal performance in the economic management of of the country.
The statement revealed that, in consideration of the party leadership in every region in the country would not be counted with a voltarian in almost every region from constituency to regions, because of their competency not by chance.
They expressed worry over what they described as unfortunate that non of the members from the region was holding national positions, which they said must be a worry to every individual in the party who wants the come back in 2020 elections.
We are of the view that, if a candidate from the Volta region partner’s our plagbearer, winning 2020 General elections with majority in parliament could be a mere formality for our party, they underscored.
