The Western Region of Ghana is expressing deep disappointment and frustration over being consistently excluded from key government appointments, particularly in the selection of CEOs for state institutions.

This sentiment is echoed by Joshua Swanzy-Owarie, Secretary of the Regional Youth Working Committee, who highlights the region’s significant contributions to the party’s electoral success in the 2024 elections.

The Western Region secured an impressive 15 out of 17 parliamentary seats, and the youth played a crucial role in delivering this victory.

However, despite their hard work and sacrifices, they continue to feel neglected and overlooked in key appointments. This has led to growing agitation and concerns about how to sustain the region’s hard-earned gains when their legitimate expectations are persistently ignored.

The statement urges President John Dramani Mahama to take urgent steps to address this concern and ensure that the Western Region receives its fair share in key appointments. The continued exclusion of the region is not only unjust but also risks eroding the confidence and morale of the people who supported the party in its time of need.

The statement emphasizes the need for fairness, inclusivity, and long-term stability in the party’s political fortunes. It is hoped that the President will rise to the occasion to correct this anomaly and give the Western Region the recognition it deserves.
